Program Philosophy:
At First Steps Academy SF, we believe in nurturing the individual needs of each child. While catering to each individual need, we also love to role-model independence. We encourage milestone development in babies through interactive play, tummy time, and helping them familiarize their bodies. Toddlers are encouraged a sense of independence through daily tasks like learning how to put on their jacket, shoes, eating, cleaning up toys, and so on. Toddlers are also exposed to a developmentally appropriate curriculum, in which we combine play-based learning with the creative curriculum.
We Strongly Value Social/Emotional Skills

Children with adequate social/emotional skills attain better attention skills, build stronger relationships, and tend to be more engaged in school. First Steps Academy SF values this aspect of Child Development highly, we assist children in developing the skills necessary to achieve outstanding social/emotional skills by:

-
Role Modeling
-
Labeling and identifying feelings
-
Self-regulation of feelings
-
How to identify our own feelings as well as other's feelings
-
Understanding consequences related to feelings
Meet our Program Director
Hi, I'm Priya! I have over 11 years of experience working in the field of Early Childhood Education. I've worked in multiple program settings including private, state-funded, and non-profit programs. I have worked with ages 0-10.
I have every permit from the Child Development Permit Matrix, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development from California State University, Chico. I am so happy I instituted First Steps Academy SF. I always dreamt of having my own program where I could incorporate all of my favorite aspects of Child Development, serve families in need of a safe and high-quality program, and do what I absolutely love most- take care of young children!
I continue to stay current on new research pertaining to Child Development and am continually looking for updated, innovative ways to implement strategies for Children's development and learning!
